According to a Wall Street special report, Qatar is ranked as the healthiest country in the world. Yay Qatar!

Data gathered on 172 countries by the World Health Organization and the World Bank was categorised by health, access, and economy. Results from data analysis revealed Qatar to have the highest position among the list.

Qatar’s top rank was due to several key factors. The country has a physician-to-patient ratio of 7.7 physicians per 1,000 people, the highest among the ranks. It also has a high DPT and measles vaccination rate, a relatively low maternal mortality rate, and a low overall death rate. However, Qatar also ranks second highest in obesity.

The Qatari medical system faces its challenges -- a rapidly growing population, long waiting times, and hospital bed shortages to name a few. In response, the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has expressed commitment to increase the number of hospital beds and operating setups and equipments by the year 2030.
